Remodel Your Home With Style
You could save hundreds of dollars remodeling your home with style, if you can do the work yourself, that is if you know what you are doing. However, if you feel you can do the job yourself. You will need a skill saw, drill, tape measure, utility knife, sawhorses, sawzall and a friend to help you hold the sheetrock in place while you screw it down. In order, to do your own remodeling, on your home make a list of what all needs to be, remodeled.
If the sheetrock on your home is cracked or broken in several places of the house, you may need new sheetrock. Therefore, if the damage is, done to the sheet rock in the kitchen, then there is one way you can determine how much sheet rock you will need for the project at hand.
First, you are going to need a tape measure to figure out the length of each wall, if your walls equal 14 feet wide, and there are, four walls in your kitchen you will take 14 times four to determine how many sheets of sheetrock you will need to remodel your kitchen.
When you multiple 14 times four you should get 56, this is how many sheets of sheetrock you will need, now do not worry if you have some left over, because no one can get an exact amount unless you build a wall in the hardware store.
Now, you will need to go to the store and buy a couple of boxes of drywall screws, to hang the sheetrock. If it is your first time, hanging sheetrock you need to mark the location of the studs, by making marks on the ceiling and floor.
Then, you can measure from floor to ceiling and cut your piece of sheetrock to fit in your kitchen and this can be, done with a skill saw or a utility knife. It would be easier for you to use the skill saw for this. After you cut one piece, go on a head and put it up because you may have to measure each pieces so the pieces come out right.
Now when you come to a door opening go a head and use a full sheet. When you put it up you will need your utility knife to cut out the opening of the door, or a sawzall would be better however, if you do not own a sawzall, you could use a utility knife but a sawzall will go faster. Continue in this fashion until the entire kitchen is done.
