Cleaning Tips

Posted by homerenovation | General | Monday 29 August 2011 10:07 am

Cleanliness is next to godliness but for most homes just getting someone to push the vacuum cleaner round once a week can be a challenge so when it comes to giving the house a deep clean it can be a nightmare. There are a few rooms in the house that should have a good clean at least once a week, in particular the kitchen and bathroom which accumulate germs very quickly. This doesn’t have to be a complicated job, something as simple as wiping the surfaces with antibacterial wipes.

When it comes to the bathroom, you need to do more than just wipe the toilet down. Where there’s a lot of water and moisture and where it gets warm you’re going to find lots of germs. Bath screens in particular are very quick to gather mildew and mould and should be wiped down after each use. If you’ve got some really difficult stains try mixing some water, vinegar and baking soda as this will leave everything clean and sparkling. Showers need to be cleaned down after each use too, even if it’s just wiping the tiles and tray down and clearing the plug hole, it will leave it much cleaner.

The kitchen has the potential to be quite dangerous if it’s not cleaned properly as there’s so much food in it. It’s always good practice to have separate instruments for raw and cooked meat. Paying for and storing extra utensils might not be practical in which case it’s essential that every thing’s washed well after each use. Rub some salt into the shopping board if it has had raw meat on it as this will help to purify it. The taps very rarely get a good wash but there are so many germs on your hands especially when you’ve been handling raw meet that it’s essential they’re cleaned just as well.

Why Should You Invest In An American Freezer?

    Posted by homerenovation | General | Tuesday 2 August 2011 3:41 pm

The American freezer is popular in its home country and abroad. This popular appliance is also known as a side by side refrigerator and it offers a ton of advantages that other models simply cannot provide, which is probably why it has become a favorite the world over. What could possibly be better than cooling and freezing set side by side? Busy homeowners everywhere enjoy the convenience they offer.

Buying an American-style refrigerator at reasonable prices from a freezer sale is not just about the money since you can always purchase an ice freezer with similar storage capacity albeit with lesser number of convenience features.  It is also about making sure that you have the necessary space to accommodate its large frame and the requisite money to pay for the higher energy costs.  If you are buying an American fridge simply for keeping up with the Joneses, forget about it.

    Standard and Premium Features

As you could expect an American fridge will come with standard or premium options. Any time you add a feature of course you will be expected to fork out more cash on the final price. Most people understand this is simply the way things are done, and figure it is a fair exchange for improved convenience.

These are some of the features you will commonly find on the American fridge models, though your experience may vary a bit:

Most if not all new refrigerators will come with automatic defrost systems. This means you no longer need to do it manually. Microban- Manufacturers have begun adding this agent to the lining in order to fight against fungi, algae and bacteria growth. This keeps your food safe to eat inside the device.

The temperature quickly lowers down to -26 degree Celsius, in contrast with the -18 degree Celsius found in other refrigerator types, so that optimal conditions for freezing and cooling foods are maintained without the ice build-up.

Other features include safety-spill glass shelves, self-closing doors, water dispensers, temperature warning systems and, in many models, LCD touchscreens.  All of these features make the American fridge the most advanced in its category.

    Consumption and Efficiency

In accordance with the energy efficiency thrust in the American market, most, if not all, American fridge units bear the Energy Star label.  Basically, this means that said consumer electric product uses 20 to 30 percent less energy than that required by federal standards.  You will then be able to save more on lesser electricity bills as well as lessen your carbon footprint.

Said energy savings are possible when you can practice certain tips.  You should place the refrigerator away from heat and sunlight; place foodstuff within the recommended capacity; and clean the compressor coils, when necessary.

Most of the American fridges are also designed to look like an integrated part of the kitchen.  You have to provide sufficient space to have it built into the wall instead of standing against the wall.  Additional decorative wooden shelves around the unit may also be installed to make it more attractive to the eyes as well as to balance the sheer metal expanse.

The process is not as simple as going to a fridge sale and looking for the one that is the least expensive. There are many brands available from a Hotpoint fridge to an LG French door fridge. You want your purchase to be a good value, an affordable price and high quality.

Intended to help you make the best decision regarding the size and the doors available on refrigerators today, the following is a basic guide. The goal is to choose one that has the amount of room you need for storing enough food for the people in the home. The place for the fridge and your kitchen’s style will need to be considered. Your main three considerations: style, size and the space where it will go.

      Direct and Frost-Free Types

Two types of refrigerators are available. The type used in dorm rooms or a tiny kitchen are direct cool. Due to the need to defrost them, they are usually very decently priced compared to other refrigerators. However, the ice that builds up on the freezer is somewhat inconvenient

The other hand, the frost-free fridges usually come in the multiple door models. As the name implies, you need not worry about frost forming on the freezer as the heating coils automatically thaws down the ice.

From Mini to Small Size Refrigerators

The beauty of a consumerist society is the availability of many choices to fit every consumer’s needs, which also goes true for refrigerators.  You can choose from four basic capacity categories – mini, small, medium and large.

The mini fridge (50 to 100 liters) is perfect for dorm rooms and bedrooms as well as for the bachelor pad and studio apartment.  It can hold just the bare food necessities for a single person like cans of beer and the occasional fruits.

The small fridge (170 to 200 liters) fits in a small kitchen and suffices for a couple only.  In single door models, you can store a week’s worth of groceries in its confines.

A medium size refrigerator holds approximately 200 to 450 liters and usually has one door or two. This size is quite affordable and is the most popular for families with two children.

The more opulent style is quite large and holds from 450 to 800 liters. This type comes with all the bells and whistles and can cost thousands of dollars. The huge capacity allows plenty of storage of food for many people or for a few months. This type typically has more doors than the others.

With an idea of the types of refrigerators that are available to consumers, now you should be prepared to choose the one among many that will be perfect for you.
